Architectural Theory 2 (cod. 106513)
Architecture Studio 2
Master’s Degree Program in Architectural Composition
20 hours, 2 CFUs, CEAR 09/A, II semester, with P. C. Lepratti
This course focuses on selected themes in architectural theory and criticism, with a flexible syllabus that can either support ongoing studio projects or function as an independent theoretical inquiry. Topics may include architectural composition, typology, housing history and theory, critical approaches to technology, and the cultural and social dimensions of design.
Coastal Design and Other Extreme Environments (cod. 95274)
Offshore. Architecture Beyond Land
Master’s Degree Program in Architectural Composition
40 hours, 4 CFUs, CEAR 09/A, I semester
The course will develop in the students a broad design ability to address coastal and port city topics, as well as environmental issues in an integrated matter with issues of public space through an urban/architectural proposal that can adapt to changing conditions. Offshore. Architecture Beyond Land takes as its case studies a selection of offshore architectures found in seas and oceans all over the world. Even before tackling them with design action, the course aims to represent them as architectures and to catalogue them as components of a collective and comprehensive grammar.
Design Studio 1 – Module 2 (cod. 95263)
the room. Architecture comes for the Making of a Room
Bachelor’s Degree Program in Architectural Sciences
50 hours, 5 CFUs, CEAR 09/A, II semester, with P. V. Pizzigoni
Through lectures by the professor and external guests and two design exercises, the Design Studio’s general objective is to transmit tools for the design of living spaces and their manipulation. Particular importance is given to the notion of the "room" and the role that this elementary and primary space assumes in the development of an architectural project: a further training objective for the students is therefore the study of the complex relationships between the components that form the room, understood as a central space in the entire composition.
Progetto Villard (cod. 101927)
Bachelor’s Degree Program in Architectural Sciences
40 hours, 4 CFUs, CEAR 09/A, one year, with Prof. D. Servente
“Progetto Villard” is a year-long architectural design course open to both undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of their year of study. Since 1999, Villard has been a traveling architectural design seminar involving several Italian and international schools of architecture, including Alghero, Ascoli Piceno, Cagliari, Genoa, Mantua, Milan, Naples “Federico II,” Palermo, Paris, Patras, Pescara, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Turin, and IUAV Venice. The seminar program focuses on the development of a design project—generally proposed by local administrations or similar institutions and rooted in specific territorial contexts—which is introduced at the beginning of the seminar and developed throughout its various stages.

Lifting Machine. The Design of a Crane
Industrial Design Course
80 hours, Fall semester, in the role of Adjunct Faculty Member
The course focuses on the design of a crane for lifting a weight, conceived as both a functional machine and a product design object. The crane will be composed of a lever, a pulley, and a weight; it must be able to support itself, remain mobile, and host an operator inside a capsule. Students will explore how mechanical principles can be transformed into formal, material, and ergonomic solutions, understanding the crane not only as a structure but as a designed product — a coherent object where function, performance, and aesthetics intersect.
